Weekend Wrap Up

It's been another week. I'm so lame at posting.... My long run this Saturday was 7 miles. I did quite good I thought for me. I didn't eat my normal banana but ate a piece of bread with peanut butter and honey. I was also out of any chews so went empty handed.  I felt great the first 5 to 6 miles. But the last mile was tough! I finished in 1.20 Min.

I am really enjoying my running group. It is very motivational and keeps me accountable to myself and my goals.

It's Monday and I woke up after dreaming I was in the hospital for my injured knee. When I woke up, I realized it was really hurting. I iced it today and made an appointment with Ernie, the CREW trainer. That also means I skipped my run. Thank goodness because it was cancelled due to rain! I was going to make it up tonight but decided to do chores around the house.

This past weekend was PACKED with fun activites. First, a much needed trip to the grocery store. Thank goodness I got smart waters on sale 10 for 10!!!! Note.. the beer and cokes are not mine.

Saturday after the long run we worked in the house and had normal pancake breakfast with the kids. We swtiched it up this week and had waffels per Cullie's request. They were a hit! Rand and I cleaned out his closet. We are giving a lot to the Junior League Thrift Sale coming up in October. Once again, I forgot to take a picture.

Later we took the kids to Square Fest where we had a great picnic and listened to some great music. The fest went on all night but we stayed in.

Sunday was promotion Sunday at church. The kids went up to the next class. They were so cute and exciting. The sermon in big Church was AMAZING. We had a guest preacher who is possibly the best person I have ever heard speak. He even kept the attention of a 4 and 9 year old. His sermon was about listening to God when he speaks to you and what we as humans do to avoid it. ON the other side what we need to do when you hear the voice of God. I would love to hear more from him sometime.

Sunday afternoon we played Yatzee as a family. Cullie's new favorite game and then the girls got dressed up and went to the Happily Ever After Ball. This was an event that benefited The Next Generation charity which we are members of. The charity benefits the Childrens hospital at Memorial Health. I really enjoy being part of this organiztion.
THis event was for children to dress up and meet the princesses and princes and some others too. Captain Jack Sparrow gave out Treasure Maps at the door for the children to get Jewlews in each room. One room had Rapunzels hair salon where they got hair and make up done. Another was Alice
s tea party room and the coolest was the under the sea room which was for the Little mermaid. All the children there LOVED it and had a blast. Randy went with me and he even said that it was a great event. He normally hates things like this.

Last Weekend Wrap Up

I'm writing out of order but these are pictures I had on the iPhone.

WoW! What a weekend. A few of the girls got together with their husbands for a weekend at the beach. This trip has been in the works since a few weeks after the wedding. After deciding on a date, we decided on a location. TYBEE ISLAND it was. I was thrilled. I didn't have to travel far. The weekend started with an amazing dinner at Sundae Cafe. I am terrible at taking pictures but this food was sooooooo pretty that I made everyone show me their food.
Griffin had Blue Cheese encrusted fillet with cheesy potatoes, veggies, and fried onions. He said this was the best steak he ever had.

Davis and Lauren Split the crab cake dinner. Served with Polenta and okra an tomatoes. YUMO!

Meredith and I SPLIT yes this is half of the Salmon Special with nappa cabbage wraps. It was great.

Randy with his traditional cheeseburger

Bruce had a creole style pasta.
I forgot to take a picture of the appetizer, they were sushi nachos. Amazing. After, toasting Champagne to start the weekend, cocktails and, wine we were done and went home to meet the rest of the crew. We spent the night on the deck catching up and having fun. I think there was some dancing at some point.

The next few days were spent on the beach, going out, and having fun. Karaoke and Dancing at Tybee Times were the best! Pictures to follow.

Randy and I spend Sunday as a CHILL COUCH day. Those are the best. Our weekend travels are over for the summer. Now time for Fall Football Season!

Crew Long Run Saturday

I have a lot of updating I
know to do. To get it started I am posting my first long run in over 3 weeks. The last time I posted was my last long run. I have had several short runs over my vacation period but nothing to write home about. It wasn't great but the good thing was I felt a WHOLE lot better than I thought I would coming back from a hiatus. With that being said we had a 5 Mile "cool down" run. We are about to really pick up the mileage so this week was suppose to energize us for the upcoming long runs. It's still not where I want to be but my fastest 5 miler yet by 2 minutes.

CREW long run Saturday

This morning was a long run day. We did 6 miles in 1.10. pretty good I thought. My knee felt good but my ankles were killing me. I guess it is time to get rid of the Mizunos. I gave them a fair shot but just not working. We ran a beautiful route this morning and the breeze was fantastic. We ran the Rails and Trails route at Fort Pulaski. It was beautiful as the sunset came up over the river.

Now off to one of my most favorite places in the world for a week! Elbow Cay, Abacos Bahamas.

A year ago, Randy proposed to me here!

Sorry.... So Busy

I have been MIA for a while. I'm so sorry. Mainly to myself. I noticed without me keeping track of my blog I am not doing all I should be doing! I am not going day by day over the past few weeks because that would be boring.

I had a short run the past few days. One day I found myself wanting my mat at the yoga studio. I have continued to ice my leg. I also purchased a foam roller. My knee is starting to feel better. Our long run last Saturday was on Wilmington Island and we did 5.5. My time was a little over 1 hour. Pretty good compared to the run the week before. My friend Meredith and Bruce came in to town to celebrate Denmark's birthday. We celebrated on Thursday and Saturday. It was so much fun.

Walker last week my co workers and I cooked dinner at the Ronald McDonald house. It was a great experience and we can't wait to go back. The families were so appreciative.

I had a conference in Atlanta I went to. It was a women's conference and it was great! More to come on it when I have more time to blog. I was inspired by several things in my career and got some answers to my concerns about my job.

Last night, Paige's cheer squad had a fashion show fundraiser. It was fun, and the girls looked cute. I'm not sure how much money was raised but they enjoyed theirselves and that is all that matters!

Tonight is the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. We have the kids and they are begging for Pizza. They will be eating that, and I plan to make some pasta for my run in the morning. They will probably hate the Opening Ceremonies but Daddy and I are excited!

Injured or not?

It was a manic Monday for sure. Started the morning out with CREW. We ran 3.5 miles downtown. Route was around Forsyth once, down Park, Left on Price, Left on Oglethorpe, left on Barnard, Left on Gaston, Right on Whitaker. I felt great this run. I found a running partner this morning and it was VERY helpful. I hope he continues to come so we can run together. We picked up the pace the last half mile but our pace was around 11:25.

Dinner was grilled chicken, sauteed spinach, and a Corn salad recipe. It was ok, I would leave out the arugula next time.

Now we are relaxing on the couch while I ice my knee. It was bothering me a lot today, enough to keep me from the gym. It's bothering me for at least 3 weeks. This is the first time I have iced it. I hope this is not a serious injury.

Does anyone have any runner suggestions for knee pain? I just got new shoes.

Weekend wrap up

After my Long Run I came home to cook breakfast for the family. No Pancakes this Sunday. We recently went to New Orleans, as you know, they are famous for Cafe Dumont and their Bingets. I picked up a box of mix when we were there last and decided to make them for the kids. THEY WERE A HIT. While they ate these, I ate some Greek yogurt with Fruit honey and granola.

They tasted better than they looked.

Later I took the girls and a friend to see Ice Age 4 and I treated myself to some popcorn!
My other snack later. Vodka Gummie Bears

Sunday we went to church. This is a picture of Cullie before Church. I thought she looked so cute. She was helping me cook breakfast. She is the best little helper! I love them so much, the house is so quiet when they go home on Sunday afternoons.

That's about it. We needed a good relaxing weekend because the next 3 are action packed!

CREW Long Run Saturday

This morning we ran 5 Miles. Time was 1 hour 49 seconds. I felt pretty good. I started this morning with the 4/1 Group. By the end most of us had split up which I hate but it was good for my pace. I ran by myself the last 2 Miles but it was at my slow 11:30 Pace.  Today's pace was 12:09. We did take about a 2 min water break in there. I will not be doing that again. I also ate Honey Stingers today during my run. The trainers suggested trying different nutrition. This is my first time eating during a run. I 'm not sure if it helped but it did take my mind off running for a few seconds while I chewed. I will try shot blocks next week.

Now I'm sitting on the couch drinking coffee and watching the Today show before all the kiddies wake up. This is my favorite on a Saturday. Recently this hasn't been in the cards because I sleep. I guess it will be a new Saturday routine.

Happy Saturday!

Babies

A little late as always posting but my friend Lyndsey and her husband Jay just welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world last week. His name is James Hudson Joiner. I hate I missed the birth. Most of my friends got to see them.

New Kicks

I cannot believe I haven't posted this week. Maybe it's because I have been super busy. I have been feeling good this week with my training. Monday morning we ran 3.5 miles time was 40:40. Not great but it was a beautiful route. We started at Forsyth Park and winded through the pretty streets of downtown.
I hit up Fleet feet after work for new shoes. Lauren, kept saying I had to many miles on my Nikes? I thought they were fine but I always like a new purchase. We tried on numerous pairs but decided on the Mizuno Wave Rider 15.

These aren't the color I got but I am not a huge fan of the way they looked but they felt good. I'm excited to try them out. If I find I don't like them, I'm going to trade them in for a pair of Nikes

I had a Jr.League meeting that night so I missed TRX. When I got home Randy was busy installing the new dishwasher!! Yay, I can't wait to see how it works.

Tuesday I decided to get a good Gym workout in. I headed to the Y. I did 30 min on the elliptical on Cross Training 2 option. Then I did a Fitness Buddy Ab workout and ended with some 30 Push ups. My arms were soar for sure on Wednesday.

Wednesday was our short run. We ran 3 miles around Daffin Park. I don't like running around the parks more than once but that's what the trainers wanted to do. Time was BAD and I didn't feel great running. I found myself begging for some time to walk... I need something to focus on. My time was 32 min and change. That afternoon I hit the gym. I got a quick 15 min elliptical session in before I went to TRX. It was a great workout.

Thursday I was planning on Yoga but we decided to cookout instead at Randy's moms. Once again, I forgot to take pictures. I have got to get better. I did make this beauty though! SOOO FRESH and SOO good. It was a hit.

Susan Mason's Watermelon, Arugula, and Pine Nut Salad
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar (I like regular vinegar)
1/2 Teaspoon salt or to taste
2 Tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
3 Cups Cubed Watermelon
6 Cups Baby Arugula
1/2 Cup Pine Nuts
1/2 Cup Crumbled Feta or Goat Cheese
Black Pepper
Fleur De Sel (Optional) I don't use...

Whisk together the lemon juice, vinegar, and salt in a large bowl. Add the oil in a slow stream, whisking until emulsified. Add the watermelon, arugula and pine nuts and toss to coat. Sprinkle with the cheese, pepper, and fleur de sel. Serve Immediately.

Weekend wrap up

This was a fantastic weekend! We had no plans so it was awesome. Friday, we took it easy so I could run with CREW on Saturday. I LOVED IT! We ran a neat route downtown and it was 4.62 miles. I did some walking and some running. I liked it becuase there were people whereever I was. My group and I did 4.7 miles in 59 Min. I know it is slow but.... I DID IT! I will be joining CREW for sure.

After the run I was pooped. OH did I mention some friends came over Friday night for "A GLASS" of wine. Well you know that didn't happen. I didn't get to bed until almost 1 only to wake up at 5 to go run. I made sure I was hydrated but still... So I got home from the run, showered, and then crashed. I joined Randy back in the bed for a 2 hour nap! We went out on the boat with Joe and Price for her birthday. Later, we had dinner with Robert and Heidi at Tortugas and went to Tubby's for a good time.
Old roomie and her BF
Randy dancing or something like it.

Sunday we slpet in and missed chruch. THe whole night before Randy was very insistent that we were going! He was the one who chose to stay home. :) We had a great lunch at Tubbys then off to Home Depot we went. I forgot, as usual, to take a before picture but I will find one. We needed stain for the deck! We came out with stain as well as one of these......

OOPS! Oh well. I will have clean dishes. When we got home I decided to tackle the pantry. I got the idea from another fellow blogger. Her pantry was 5 times this size and needed painting but this was still a chore.

Before...

After
The rest of the day was spent relaxing with the Kardashians. I also watched Extreme Makeover weight loss addition. What an inspriation for my CREW run on Monday morning.

Feeling unmotivated

I knew this week would be hard for training, i just wasn't prepared for how much. My training partner decided to run in the mornings in Pooler. Well I'm not driving to Pooler every morning! Monday I did TRX and she kicked our butt! 30 minutes of Plank work at the beginning of class!
Tuesday I decided to run during lunch because I didn't wake up early. It was a terrible run. On the run I decided I had to get a group to run with. I rand 2 Miles in like 28 MIN. TERRIBLE!!!!! It was so hot too, but that isn't an excuse.

Of course Wednesday i didn't do anything and Thursday, Randy convinced me to have a lazy day. I slept terrible last night. My legs felt like they needed some exercise so bad. I am for sure going to workout today. I may go to the butts and ball class at the Y that Betsy teaches.

So... I think CREW is the way for me to go on my training. I am going to try a run with them on Saturday morning. It is a 4.75 Mile Run downtown and through River Street. I will let you know how it goes. I am going to start with the beginner group. Most of those people have about the same pace as myself.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Happy Friday!

4th of July

I love the 4th. It is always fun with friends and Family. Tuesday night we went to the Yacht Club for fireworks on our friends new boat. WOW! This thing was amazing. The boat was actually his dads. I wish we could have one of those. It was so much fun. We did miss Price our friend. She is on bedrest.

Saturday we spent the day at the dock with the family. We grilled, floated, hung out, ate, and sweated! It was so much fun. We ate so much! I was so tired from the night before we hit the sack pretty early and I had to be at work Thursday morning.
Happy 4th!
